Wild Orange - Essential Oil Smoothie!

Wild Orange is the new Green . . .

When it comes to smoothies that is! For a while there is seemed like everyone was drinking Green juices, or Green smoothies. Vegetables and fruits in a drink of sorts for health and fitness reasons was a super popular idea. One, I admit, that I totally got caught up in. It was fun and fresh, and even more than all those vegetables, I got sucked into the magic of beautiful flavors from yucky foods!

However, after a few experiments with adding more fruit (because the Hubby and Kids complained about too many vegetables, especially the leafy ones) I found that Green smoothies can actually be any color in the Rainbow. What's even more wild? Rainbow is the new Green. 😊 After a LOT of experimenting, and trial and error, I have learned how to make them taste just as good as the beautiful colors I create.

Discovering Essential Pleasure...

Have you heard of them? Essential oils have become a huge deal! Have you been invited to like a million parties like me? I have, by all my friends and even those people who are acquaintances on my social media. I don't normally buy into fads. BUT SERIOUSLY!!!! I love my Essential Oils, like a ton! Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint are my favorite for health, baths, and using with my kids, and they love it too!

However, recently I found a great way to use another essential oil, and it's my pleasure to share it with you all.   Normally I focus on making healthy kid friendly smoothies with vegetables, essential oils, legumes, and plant protein powders. So when I say kid smoothies, I have to get really creative sometimes in how I "hide" the healthy stuff. This recipe I'm sharing below, doesn't have a lot of vegetables, because sometimes its also nice to just have a fresh fruity blast of goodness.

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

Welcome to my newest favorite essential oil: Wild Orange.  Most people add a drop or two to water for taste, or to an air freshener for the freshness, I found a way to add to the flavor oranges in a smoothie and it is essentially pleasurable.  ~Enjoy~

Wild Orange Smoothie

(made with essential oils from doTerra)

8oz Orange juice
4 drops of Wild Orange Oil (we got ours from doTerra)
1 cup Papaya (canned is all I could find at the store, so I drained it)
1 cup Mango (canned is all I could find at the store, so I drained it)
1/3 cup carrots (steamed)
1/2 cup Greek Coconut Yogurt
2 tsp Chia seeds (ground)
2 tsp Flax seeds (ground)
1 cup Pineapple (fresh frozen)

*Blend until smooth.  This will make 2 servings, you will get a really good taste of the wild orange and the pineapple flavorings.

*DISCLOSURE - Anytime you plan on using essential oils in a recipe or for ingestion you must first consult the manufacturer. DoTerra very clearly marks their bottles with whether or not they can be ingested, and instructions on how to do so. NEVER ingest essential oils without first consulting a trusted source.

Aroma-Therapy Diffuser by SpaRoom

Details:  SpaRoom Essentials offers an Aromafier diffuser which is portable.  It runs on 2 AA batteries, USB cord, or AC adapter.  (It comes with the USB cord.)  Just add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, or aromatherapy oil and enjoy the fragrant experience.  It uses absorbent pads, therefore no water or heat is needed, which makes this safe for travel.  Has a silent fan which broadcasts the fragrance and comes with 3 replaceable micro-absorbing pads.

Aromafier Travel Diffuser by SpaRoom Essential

My Review:  I've been looking for a diffuser for some time now.  I've narrowed down a variety in which I would like to try for various reasons.  The SpaRoom Aromafier diffuser was a great way for me to start breaking in to the use of diffusers.

What attracted me the most to this particular one, is that I could take it traveling, without the mess of the liquid essential oils and water routine.  I can plug this into my USB/AC plug adapter and can use this anywhere there is a 110 electrical current outlet.  Not only that, but I can also plug it into my computer while working, and it does a great job of infusing my 11x12 foot room with the aromatherapy oils I am using.

Years ago, I had purchased a color changing mini fountain to sit on my husband's work desk.  While it ran, he could listen to the sound of the water, and we had a variety of aromatherapy oils he could use depending on his mood and if he needed to de-stress or not.  That became so complicated to change out the water each time he wanted a different fragrance that he gave up on it.

The Aromafier only needs to have the absorbent pads changed out and we're up and running.  Instead of purchasing more absorbent pads, I took the round cleaning pads for use with cleansing faces or getting nail polish off with, cut out a hole in the middle to fit into the Aromafier, and added my fragrances.  Each is stored in its separate little plastic bag and labeled with the fragrance oil and what it is good for.  These have worked out great.  So far we've gone through about 6 different fragrances to determine which we like best and for what.  For instance, when it's a high stress work day, out comes the lavender.  Within a couple of minutes, the smell of lavender is working through our olfactory senses and we find ourselves more calm almost immediately.

I have used both essential oils and aromatherapy oils in this little guy.  Obviously it takes more drops of aromatherapy oils to disperse than essential oils.  Both work great on those little pads.  I have noticed that on days with high humidity, the Aromafier will have some condensation built up inside. I just wiped with a tissue and haven't had any issues.

The fan is audible, but quiet.  Nothing that keeps me awake at night when I run the Aromafier.  It has a bright blue light that shines when it is on.  That can be annoying at night.  It disturbed my husband, and we had to move it to make it less visible.

Pros:  Love the versatility of this diffuser.  It's small and portable.  Can use aromatherapy oils and essential oils.  Great for travel.  Overall, a great product.

Cons:  Sometimes condensation builds up inside near the pad, but doesn't stop the unit from working.

My Rating:  A Big Thumbs UP!!!

Hedd Wyn Essential Oils

Details:  Hedd Wyn Essential Oils is know for their Wild Mediterranean Oil of Oregano.  It is a killer flu, antibiotic, helps with food poisoning and more.  It fights against the germs that cause common illnesses.  "Even antibiotic resistant bacterial strains have no defense against Oregano oil."

Some of the proven properties of Oregano Oil include:  Immune modulator, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, anti-oxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-toxic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-carcinogenic, anti-venom, expectorant, anti-plaque, and more.

Hedd Wyn mixes their Oil of Oregano with certified organic, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil in a ratio of 1 part essential oil to 4 parts olive oil.  This is the safest and most effective formula.  "When using essential oils, stronger is not better."  Safe for children, adults and pets.

Their oil is wild crafted and they have been doing this for over two decades.

My Review:  I read recently where Oregano Essential Oil is a great go-to for food poisoning, flu and a host of other ailments.  I wanted to add this to my first-aid kit.  In doing research I felt Hedd Wyn Essential Oils would be the best solution for me.

My order arrived promptly, and the first time we used this, was actually to flavor our mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.  They tasted wonderful.  Wanting to avoid flus, colds and other illnesses, we figured this was a good way to take it.  Maybe not the best, but it worked.

The suggested directions are to start with 2-3 drops under the tongue 2-3x daily.  Hold for a minute or two then swish around your mouth and swallow.  Now it's normal to get a warm tingly sensation like eating a lot of cayenne pepper.  But it goes away.  I felt like I tasted the oregano all day long, but it wasn't that bad.

This can be used externally as well.  Great to help with acne, cuts, scrapes, burns, bruises, spider veins, sore muscles, back pain, headache, earache, warts, skin tags, insect bites, bee and wasp stings, and many other things.  I also like that this can be used on pets as well.  Not just domestic cat and dog type pets, but birds, horses, chickens and other livestock.  Helps with parasites, wound healing etc.

Pros:  Quality product at a decent price.  This worked for my sneezes and sniffles I had.  I only took one dose and was fine the rest of the day.

Cons:  Taste of Oregano stayed with me all day long after one dose.

My Rating:  Thumbs UP!

doTerra Essential Oils Past Tense

doTerra Oils is a company dedicated to making sure each essential oil is carefully and thoroughly tested using the strict CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade protocol.

The Health Ranger from Natural News does his own independent testing and commented on how each and every doTerra oil he tested was very pure.  He highly recommends this company.

They carry a variety of singles, blends and other health and skin related products.  They work off of an MLM type business, but it does offer many benefits by joining that can personally benefit just you. They began back in 2008, and have continued to grow into one of the leading companies of essential oils.

My Review:  My daughter-in-law became involved with doTerra a few years ago.  While visiting with her recently, she was very excited to share with us her knowledge of essential oils.  She and our son swear by them and we saw in action how quickly and effectively it worked on them, their 1 year old daughter and ourselves. It was awesome.  Our grand-daughter kept pulling and tugging at her ears, until mommy put basil oil around the outside of her ears.  Within minutes she settled down.

We had expressed our concerns about the anxiety we feel when we fly. We were still trying to "come down" off that jet ride and very jittery.  She gave us some PastTense to try to see if that would help us relax so we could sleep better.  It really worked.  I was impressed that my restless legs really calmed down too.  Not something any of us expected.

When we were getting ready to head back home, our daughter-in-law gave us a bottle of PastTense to take with us for the flight back.  About 30-45 minutes into the flight, I had had enough.  I couldn't sit still and was very restless.  My husband reminded me about the essential oil blend.  I placed some on my temples, my forehead and back of my neck.  In less than 20 minutes I had calmed down and didn't have another problem the rest of the 5 hour plus flight.  My husband just smelled the essential oils and within 5 minutes he was fast asleep.

Lately I've been keyed up and not sleeping very well.  Last night I got out PastTense and applied on my temples and on the bottom of my feet.  I calmed down and my legs stopped moving within 5 minutes.  I believe I was asleep within 10 minutes.  This is great stuff.  I'm so grateful our daughter-in-law shared this bottle with us.

PastTense is a distinctive blend of essential oils known to reduce the discomforts associated with tension and stress.  It has wintergreen, lavender, peppermint, frankincense, cilantro, marjoram, Roman chamomile, basil and rosemary.  It helps ease muscle tension in the head and neck and reduces stress.  It is packaged in a convenient roll-on bottle application.  That was extremely nice especially while flying.

I'm sold on PastTense.  Haven't tried too many other doTerra oils, but my daughter and daughter-in-law have really enjoyed using them and know they work.

Pros:  PastTense works quickly and effectively at reducing my stress, helping my restless legs calm down, and helping me sleep at night.  My husband agrees that this is one oil we both benefit from and don't want to be without.
My Rating:  A Huge Thumbs UP!!!

Edens Garden Essential Oils Neroli and Ylang Ylang

Details:  Edens Garden offers 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils.  There are no peticides, synthetic chemicals, herbicides, gmos, harmful chemicals or natural fertilizers ever used during any stage of the growing or distillation process.  Edens Garden Oils come from plants grown in their indigenous locations (where they grow naturally).  Their trusted suppliers strictly follow all USDA food/product safety guidelines.  They never add any bases, carriers or additives to their essential oils.

They to GC (gas chromatography) tests on each of their oils and MSDS and Certificates of Analysis are available upon request.  This provies the breakdown of the naturally occurring components found in any given oil.

My Review: Being very new to essential oils, I've been introduced to several companies recently. There are many great companies out there.  I've actually tried and purchased essential oils from many of them and have been quite impressed.

I recently purchased two oils from Edens Garden, Neroli and Ylang Ylang.  My order arrived very quickly.  It was less than 1 week.  Since this was going from coast to coast, I thought that was impressive.  Shipping and handling charges were less than many other companies I was looking into. Not only that, but the prices of their oils are very reasonably priced.  Basically no MLM, and no middle man so costs are down.

Neroli:  Have you heard of Eau-de-Cologne?  Well it is traditionally made from Neroli Essential Oil. It is made from the bitter orange tree comprising a sweet yet spicey aroma.  Not recommended to take internally.

Neoli promotes cell growth and increases circulation.  It can help prevent scarring and stretch marks.  It is effective in treating skin conditions linked to emotional stress.  Neroli helps to eliminate acne and blemished skin by regulating oiliness and shrinking pores.  With regular use, Neroli will reduce the appearance of fragile or broken capillaries and varicose veins.  When inhaled, it is known to relieve anxiety, stress and depression, reduce high blood pressure and stimulate an underactive libido. It is an aphrodisiac.

Now that I know Neroli helps with varicose veins I'm going to try that and will report back.

Ylang Ylang:  Is made from the flowers of the tree.  Is used to uplift the mood and promote overall health.  It is used to treat high blood pressure, nervous conditions, anxiety and impotence.  It is a powerful aphrodisiac.  It has antidepressant, anti-infectious, antiseptic, euphoric and stimulant properties. It contains stress reducing properties.

Personally, I think Neroli is very strong smelling. Ylang Ylang is more pleasant. I place a few drops of each on separate cotton balls, and place at the head of my bed. They help me relax and sleep well throughout the night. Often times my legs are very restless. When I take in a few deep breaths of each oil, my legs calm down. When I'm stressed out, it's nice to just sit for a few minutes and smell these two oils. I feel much better afterwards.

Pros: No complaints about the company nor their products. Both Neroli and Ylang Ylang help me feel less stressed and help me sleep through the night.

Cons:  Haven't noticed any improvement with libido.

My Rating:  Thumbs UP!!!

Their oil has been tested for purity and potency.  There are so many remarkable recipes in this guide book, you'll be happy you purchased the oil.

Review:  I was quite surprised that the Australian Tea Tree was different than what I currently grow in my yard.  I always thought they were the same.  Doesn't really matter, just a surprise.  What was quite a surprise was the smell of this Tea Tree Oil.  It was more pungent than I expected.

I tried this on my face where I had a few breakouts.  I tried it straight without diluting.  Even though I used just the tiniest amount on a q-tip, it was still very strong smelling.  I ended up adding some coconut oil to my breakouts which helped with the smell. And best of all the breakouts went away within 2 days.

I found it best to dilute the oil with coconut oil with using this on my body.  When using this as a disinfectant it is best to dilute it with water.  The smell isn't near as strong, but is actually refreshing and clean smelling.

One of my sons has a big issue with warts.  He'll be trying this out soon.  Unfortunately, he no longer lives with us as he is away for school.  My husband has skin tags, and this is helping with those. It works wonders on bug bites.

Tea Tree Oil is anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial.  You cannot go wrong with this important essential oil. Even though you can use this oil in dental hygiene, never ingest this oil, it is for external use only.

Here is a recipe for an anti-bacterial hand soap. Hands will thank you.

Soap Dispenser (cleaned with hot water and dried)
1/2 tbsp Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil
1 lemon, juiced
1 cup seal salt (medium fine grains)
2 drops lemon essential oil
1/3 cup olive oil

MIX IT: Add all ingredients into a wooden mixing gown and stir until well blended. Pour mixture into empty soap dispenser and place in bathroom and kitchen.

Pros: I'm very excited I was able to get Apothecary Teat Tree Oil.  I use it on so many things, and have already benefited from it greatly.

Cons: Strong smelling if using straight without diluting.

My Rating: Thumbs UP!!!

Disclaimer: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

doTERRA Essential Oils

Details: David Hill, DC is a leading expert in the field of integrative medicine and essential oils.  Mr. Hill has dedicated his life and medical practice to empowering others to take control of both their own health and the health of their families and loved ones.  doTERRA's collection of essential oils represents the finest aromatic extracts available in the world today.  Each oil provides the living essence of its source botanical, gently distilled from plants that are nurtured and carefully harvested throughout the world.  These oils are certified pure therapeutic grade.

doTERRA came alive in the spring of 2008, as a group of healthcare and business professionals who shared profound personal eperiences with the life-enhancing benefits of essential oils.  Creating this company they decided to make this their mission, to share life-enhancing benefits of the essential oils with the world.

The introductory package of doTERRA oils gives you a pamphlet all about doTERRA the company, and what essentials are.  Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, and flowers of plants.  In the introductory package of doTERRA oils are 3 oils: lavender, lemon, and peppermint.  There are 3 application methods, and 3 sensitivities of skin.  These classifications help us to know how to use each oil for its use best.

My Review: Receiving the doTERRA essential oil introductory package from a friend, my family has been able to enjoy the power of the oils for the past month and a half.  We used the lavender to help sooth our 2 year old's diaper rashes, the peppermint to open our sinuses and airways, the lemon to improve my moods (especially during those PMS times), and used it to sooth cold sores.  We've been able to use these 3 essential oils, but they weren't really important or very essential to our family.  But we're all very excited to see what else we can find through doTERRA and be able to use them for each of our family members.  We've heard so many great things about essential oils are excited we're using them now.

Pros: a little drop of oil goes a long way, great for health and wellness

Cons: these are expensive, MLM
