Review: When given the opportunity to review these weight loss tools, I'm not sure who was most excited, me or my husband. We're both very visual people, and the old fashioned tools are sometimes still the best.
Many bathroom scales these days allows you to see your BMI (Body Mass Index.) However, we all know that despite what that number may show us, it is still nice to know just how much unwanted body fat we have. This is where the "old fashioned" "non-digital" way of doing things still come into play. Ozeri provides these tools with their Body Tape Measure and Body Fat Test Caliper.
The Body Fat Test Caliper allows one to determine body fat without relying on electrical and battery powered devices. In order to take an accurate Fat-Measure you want to measure one inch above the point of your right hipbone. Grasp the skinfold between the thumb and index finger. Gently pull the skinfold away from your body. Pull the skin and underlying fat away from the muscle tissue. Now place the caliper jaws over the skinfold about 1/4 of an inch from your left thumb and forefinger, keeping the caliper perpendicular to the skinfold. Now press until you hear a slight click. Your reading is now ready. Do this a few times in a row to make sure it is consistent. Now compare that number to the chart provided with these tools and you'll know if you are lean, ideal, average or above average. Be sure to always take your measurements on the right side of the body. Do not take measurements after exercising or if overheated. Measure the same time of day.
The tape measure has a button in which to retract the tape measure once you measure your body. It has a slight curve to make it easier to measure around your wrist, neck, waist etc. It also allows you to easily mark the inches by placing the little "end stop" (circled in blue) in the slot and keeping it in place.
Be sure to add these tools to your weight loss program to better keep track of your progress. You can order yours today from Amazon.
Pros: Great tools to help one visually see the difference in weight loss by inches. Sometimes weight loss on a scale is much different than weight loss through inches. These help provide that measurement.
Cons: It was a little difficult for me to understand at first how to use the calipers. Once my husband showed me how it was a snap.
My Rating: Thumbs UP!
