Details: Yvette didn't have a normal childhood. Her father would come and go as he pleased, constantly breaking her mother's heart. He loved all women, and loved that they loved him too. She and her sisters had a hard life, but after turning her back on the Lord, Yvette found that the Lord chased her down until she was humble enough to let Him lift her up out of the mess that had become her life, love, and reason for living. This is a Christian book, but does contain some language and sexual mentioning but not exclusive. If this was a movie it'd be rated PG-13.
My Review: This was an awesome book from the beginning. The title intrigued me from the start. I love the secret recipies Yvette adds at the end of each chapter (at least 3-4 recipes per chapter). She also includes 4 front and back pages of colored photographs of her family, friends, and her growing up and changing stages of life. Very cool to see and feel an even more intimate and loving relationship with the characters of this book, especially Yvette's church friends and family. I love that this book is a short book, not meant to bring anyone down or seem like a book of complaining; but rather is very much an inspirational, motivating and eye opener type book. She doesn't preach, she just says it how it was and is, and lets us get a look into her crazy life that has given her mercies from God every morning. And BTW: the tid bit about her hair is a must read, I'm not spoiling that part of her adventure!
Pros: loved it all
Cons: I haven't made any of her recipes yet.
My Rating I received a complimentary copy from Tyndale.

Charlotte's Angel
Details: Charlotte's Angle, by Carol Preston a woman from Australia. Freedom doesn't come easy in the early years of Australia's make. Everyone has come to Sydney, Pitt, and other such places to pay a debt to gain freedom, and then to keep that freedom safe from robbers, murderers, and thieves. When a young pretty woman flaunts her way into the butcher shop that afternoon William Douglass didn't know what he was getting himself into. She is very pretty, but in a flirting way, with little respect for the male figures to whom she tries to connect with. His wife Mary a woman of good standing, who has helped herself and husband redeem themselves from crimes in their past just want to live a quiet happy life together. And Mary wants nothing to do with Eliza Plumb, especially since she's married, has a child, and ought to keep herself clean and pure to only her husband.
Eliza has other plans, and when things are looking very desperate a stroke of luck hits her on the head, almost literally and she is given the freedom she wants. But as she chooses to ignore her true role, that luck runs out, again and again, until she finds herself with a grown woman as a daughter, who wants nothing from her own mother. Can Eliza continue to rely on herself and her specialties or will her desires to make her own money, and make good money ruin her life, and family? Are Angels really looking out for those who are placed in the most horrid of cercumstances? Can freedom really come naturally or does it have to be bought with blood, sweat, and tears? Can a nation that is fighting to become something more than a dump for convicts and criminals turned slaves fix itself? What is your price to buy freedom?
My Review: This was a wonderfully uplifting, quick, motivating read. A Christian book written by an Australian author, who has given history of her ancestors in a very wonderful and adventurous novel. Carol Preston is an amazingly talented writer! Her style is very easy to read, easy to connect to characters, and easy to follow travel of these widely complex characters and the details of a country trying to gain freedom and liberty and safety.
Pros: Loved everything
Cons: it ended

Clairol Natural Instincts
Details: Clairol Natural Instincts, Brass Free. This hair dye received one of the top ratings
chosen by consumers for many reasons.
One is that it was ammonia free.
Another is that it was true to the shade on the box. It only takes 10 minutes. It lasts longer than
the 4-6 weeks it said on the box. It is
less damaging to your hair as well. On the box it says it will color your hair
without adding unwanted red and orange tones.
My Review: This is a multi-step process which I didn’t
mind. You wash your hair, apply the dye,
rinse out and apply their really good hair conditioner. That part I liked. I really liked how the color covered my hair,
and how true to the box color it was.
The last step was to apply another packet of Color Fresh 2 weeks after
coloring your hair to set the color, make it more intense and to last
longer. This part was absolutely
awful. My nice brown hair is now a
copper penny color. I don’t like red
hair on me. I now have that unwanted red
and orange tones that it said I wouldn’t get.
I’ve been washing my hair more frequently to get this last packet of
hair color out, and the copper color is remaining, while the brown color is
fading away.
Pros: The first packet of hair dye did what it said
it would do, colored my hair very nicely, and was true to the color on the
box. It did not have an offensive
smell. The process lasted about 10
minutes, as compared to 20-45 minutes with other hair dyes I have tried. The conditioner makes my hair really soft and
silky.
I did call Clairol and told them
what happened. They are sending me out a
full value coupon for a new box of hair dye.
They also told me how to remove the orange color from my hair, which I
will share for those who have experienced the same thing I did. Get a hot oil treatment from the store. DO NOT heat it up. Apply to dry hair and leave uncovered for 30
minutes. Rinse and shampoo. I haven’t tried this yet, but will be as soon
as I get a hot oil treatment.
Cons: The 2nd packet of color turned my
brown hair a copper penny color, which I do not like. Maybe lighter colors wouldn’t turn your hair
orange. This step can be skipped all
together.
My Ratings: A thumbs up if you do just the 1st step. A thumbs down if you continue with the 2nd packet. Clairol did offer the full value coupon for a new box of dye which gets a thumbs up as well.

Panasonic Blue-ray Player
Details: DMP-BD87P-K blue ray player. WiFi built in for: Netflix, CinemaNow, vudu, Youtube and more. Smart home networking dlna certified. Quick playback with fast booting and fast loading. Blue-ray Disc, DB-Video, BD-Live, AVCHD, usb, compact disc digital audio, DVD video, CD-R/RW playback, Dolby True HD, MP3 playback, JPEG playback, MKV playback, HDMI, Java powered and is an Energy Star product.
My Review: We bought this from Best Buy after our last blue ray player broke due to a malfunctioning update. We didn't buy the warranty, but should have. This is the worst BlueRay player we've bought. And we've owned 4 different types and brands. Our wifi is horrible contantly getting disconnected, or just won't connect. When watching movies the movie is always stopping and re--buffering. The player it self freezes a ton. Not letting us turn it off, or turn it on, so we're always having to unplug it from the power to get it to work, which stinks because we've got it on a protector power strip. It does play DVDs and Blue-rays really well. Its just super hard to get to work properly. It claims to have "fast booting and fast loading" but that's not true. It takes a good 3 minutes to load any blue ray, and 1.5 minutes to load a regular DVD. We do not recommend this brand at all.
Pros: no update malfunctions, plays blue rays without any issues
Cons: WiFi is horrible, player freezes all the time, bad brand of blueray players. As a mom I review this product as thumbs down. Having to constantly push buttons to get it to work it really upsets my Mommy Thumb.

Dynex LCD TV
Details: Dynex 32" LCD TV: 720 p 60 Hz. Inputs: HDMI 2, VGA 1, Component 1, Antenna/ Cable 1, PC input for gaming and conferencing. Digital ATSC tuner delivers clear digital broadcast. Parental controls with V-Chip technology. Found at Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Wal-Mart.
My Review: This was a great buy. The price was the best for what you got at the time of this purchase. It was $200 with a 1 year warranty for any damage, not just the manufacturers warranty. Super light weight, can be stood on a cabinet, or mounted on the wall. Great picture, and good sound. The base and treble are a little off, but not enough to worry about (you just don't get those good base sounds from the newest XMen movie). Perfect for a small home!
Pros: light weight, hard to break, LCD so no worries about burning images into the screen like a plasma flatscreen TV.
Cons: sound is a little off, had trouble getting the HDMI set up, but once set up no issues at all.

My Review: The games I downloaded and tried were kids games, and family friendly games. They were okay, our family isn't big into games, but I can see how these would help pass the time between the 4th's BBQ dinner and the fire works. I like the games, but didn't like to have to print them off. We hate printing stuff just because its not super easy with our computer/ printer set up.
Pros: tons of games to choose from, and games for every type of person and party/ get together, love that once you pay the $20 for the game packet you can reuse each game as often as you want.
Cons: I have to print the games off

Kindle Fire
Details: Kindle Fire has a 7 touch screen with the kindle size being 7.5, with full color and sound. It has 8GB internal storage, and you can use the mini SD cards to add storage. You get Free cloud storage, up to 8 hours of continuous use. Supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, or enterprise networks with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication; does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks.
My Review: I was using the Kindle PC app on my computer for the longest time, but it was hurting my eyes and was annoying to be stuck on my computer trying to read all the free kindle books I had received. So my husband let me buy a Kindle. I was going to get a Kindle touch like what my friend has, but while shopping I saw the Kindle fire and an app on there where books can be read to your child and apps that help teach your children to read for them selves. I was bought. That's why I bought my kindle fire. Was for those awesome teaching apps. I love the educational games, puzzles, books and apps I have on my Fire, I love being able to carry it around to church for my kids to use, or in the car when I'm running errands all day with 2 bored kids in the back seat. I love doing school time on the kindle with my kids, and playing games with my husband late at night too.
I bought my kindle from Best Buy, and received what they call the Black Tie guarantee. I bought 3 years of the Black Tie, where any time in those 3 years that my kindle messes up, gets busted I take it in and get a free brand new kindle fire. When I bought the kindle the sales guy said I would need a screen protector because this Kindle screen gets scratched very easily. So I had them put the screen protector on. It had to dry for 48 hours.
I went to Wal-Mart to find a good Kindle case. I wanted something that would protect my kindle on the sides and back as my kids would be using this, not just me. I found a great cover by M-Edge. It zips closed and keeps the kindle snug inside without worry of falling out. Plus its my favorite color: turquoise. The cases that the sales person from Best Buy recommended were cases that allowed your kindle to stand up, and only protected the outside, but it was open on the sides so lint and such could get stuck to the side of your Kindle Fire.
Pros: I love the fast connectivity, the large storage, tons of educational, fun, religious apps
Cons: none

Hunger Games
The Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
Details: The world (or at least North America) has been destroyed and what is left of society have been broken into the Rulers called Capital, and 12 poor Districts. Every year the government requires 2 kids join the Hunger Games from each District. The Hunger Games helps remind the poor people how blessed they are to have survived the war that devastated the land. In District 12, a female volunteers to be the tribute in place of her 12 year old sister. Her sweet as honey, tender as a baby bird younger sister. Now she has to fight 23 other victims of the Hunger Games so she can take care of her sister.
My Review: I didn't like the violence, the gore, the crudeness and ignorance of the government to the poor people in the 12 Districts. I didn't like how children are the victims of their fore father's mistakes. I didn't like the forced romance. What I did like were the characters, each person named and described was brilliant! All the detailed landscapes, all the detailed hunting strategies, and all the human reactions are also amazing. I was sucked into the story line, though the plot was unsettling.
Pros: well written, great prose, amazing details
Cons: violence, gore, murderous teenagers
My Rating: Thumbs down I will not read the rest of the trio.

Toe the Line
Details: It was just supposed to be another race. He was supposed to race with his friend, and then head home to take care of the last details of their big deals. But then this happened and now he's stuck in Washington unable to go back home to Texas. How the heck did things get so out of order? His friend is starting to seem like a foe not a friend, but he can't ask him what's up because he's dead. Now he has to find the killer, find out why their company is bankrupt, and why his Ex-Fiance left him.
My Review: I was a little worried about reading a Thriller as its been a very long time since I've read this type of book. But I was very impressed with the plot, the characters, the mystery that was totally not expected. I love the Ex-fiance. She's a hoot. And the descriptions of the Detectives are super funny. I highly recommend this book as a great read, an awesome story plot, mystery, romance and problem solving. I got this as a Kindle book. But you can also buy the regular copy on Amazon as well. Dick Hannah is a very good author. With amazing skills. Check out his Blog.
Pros: Each character is well mapped out, planned and written about. I love learning the insides of racing, and triathlons.
Cons: none
My Rating I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author.

Fekkai Glossing Hair products
Details: Fekkai Glossing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Cream. Light weight moisture and vivid gloss while soothing hair. Shine enhancing shampoo infused with pure olive oil extract which gently cleanses and adds luster to normal or dull hair. 2 step directions. Light weight conditioner, enriched with pure olive oil and moisturizers, which adds luster and vibrance to normal or dull hair.
My Review: The first time I used this, I thought this stuff ruined my hair. It was sticky, and I could barely get my brush through my hair. My hair never got shiny. 2 days later I used it again, and my hair was completely different. No longer sticky, super soft, and very shiny. But the shine turned to oily greasy hair by morning. Not cool. After using it a 3rd time I have a very good idea how this stuff works. After 2-3 uses your hair becomes soft, and silky, and shiny, but it only lasts 1 day or 1 night if used in the morning. After that your hair is oily and greasy big time. I do not like these hair products at all. I have used other hair products that have given me the same if not better results without that many issues. I don't recommend this brand at all.
Pros: the shine and the silkiness is amazing
Cons: sticky hair with the first use, greasy texture after a few hours.

My Rating I received a complimentary sample of these products to write a review on.

Hope Springs
Have you ever prayed" Lord, if there is any way can you please close this door?"
Details: When a small town Pastor travels to the other side of the grave the whole community comes together, especially 2 of the most prominent families. As the Saunders family comes together for their Pastor's funeral, a funny chain of events occurs causing a dark secret to surface, awkward meetings take place between old lovers, and a family hurt by decades of forgotten lies tries to overcome that hurt, but will it be in enough time before another death tolls this family and their wonderful friends. Can God, love, and mercy really help bring down pride and build up humility, love and grace. Will love's once lost be reunited and rekindled? Can trusting people as people instead of seeing colored skins really heal a broken community?
My Review: What a great review through Booksneeze. I loved that this book is set in my home state of North Carolina. I love that its a Christian book, and that despite being very religious, Christians do have the same problems as other people in the world, and that they need the same love and trust from their family and friends as any human being needs. Reading this book was hard because my emotions were very high during the whole book. I cried at many spots, to the embarrassment of myself as it was while in the presence of my husband. This book is truly amazing! I can't say enough good about it. I highly suggest this book to anyone wanting a good read, a great pick me up, and an amazing story of Christianity, love, trust, and community unity. Something I wish our own community had more of.
Pros: awesome plot, great characterization, good creativity, very realistic with lots of romance, lesson learning, and soul searching moments.
Cons: none

Marriage by Mistake
Marriage by Mistake by Alyssa KressMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Details: Kelly Williams is a sensible woman, but because of her job, men do not want her to be sensible and serious and committed. Being raised by a Pastor and Pastor's Wife, Kelly can't ignore what she's been taught. Hoping to find a wonderful man who truly does love her is hard living in Las Vegas. Dean is scared senseless when he finds Kelly in his office building in Massachusetts wanting to know why he left her. When did he get married? Is this even happening to him? What happened in the past 48 hours and why can't he remember?
My Review: This was not at all what I expected. It looked and sounded like a trashy Romance novel. But it wasn't. I was very intrigued by the title, as many people I hear now-a-days question their marriage, are always getting a divorce, and or have been divorced multiple times. Marriage is really starting to become an out-dated thing, not even a special event, happening and or that "Once in a Lifetime" event girls always dream of. This is a great book for couples struggling with their marriages, couples dating and thinking or not thinking of marriage, and great for families who have been broken by infidelity, philandering, re-marriage, divorce, and lack of stability in parental elements. Marriage by Mistake gives a while new meaning to relationships; marriage issues and what it means in today's society to keep your word and to keep your vows. I love how the unexpected happens at the most unexpected times. This was a free book on Amazon.com, and I read it in 1 day with many interruptions from my children, but I would have to say it took me roughly 7 hours to read this. An amazing read, one that has helped me continue to want to stay married to my wonderful husband and best friend, and has helped me realize just how amazing it is when a woman does find an honest, loyal committed man and vice versa.
Pros: great plot, amazingly real characters, you totally get sucked into this book by the end of the second chapter.
Cons: some may be turned off by all the sexual content, but its written with class, not trash.

Enfuselle Hand and Body lotion: 8 fl oz. Paraben and dye free, contains triple-patented vital repair+ complex, quickly absorbed, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested. This is a deeply moisturizing treatment that protects skin and strengthens nails all day. Light and quickly absorbed to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. 3 step directions. This lotion is to be massaged into skin, and cuticles and wherever used, more than just rubbed into skin.
What we think about it: I also got to try this lotion on myself and children. We live in Utah, where our skin is trying to adapt to dry, hot desert weather. But my poor kids have had skin rashes that aren't contagious, or anything, they're just a reaction to the new type of climate (we're all used to humid tropical areas). I've tried Gold Bond, and Aquaphor and other types of lotions to try and help get rid of these annoying rashes, but to no avail. But when I started putting this lotion on, the rashes started going away just after 3 days. I was totally amazed and surprised! I love this product! I will continue using and buying this product while we live in hot dry desert weather. This gets a thumbs up from us.
Enfuselle C+E repair P.M.: Breakthrough patented formula, formulated with 10% pure vitamin C, and 5% pure vitamin E. Fragrance, dye and paraben free. Dermatologist tested, and allergy tested. This product is for all skin types. It instantly softens and reverses the visible signs of aging. This is to be a continuously used product for dramatic results. Not tested on animals. 4 step directions, to be used at night. This also helps reduce visible scars. What we think about it: The reviewer loved how her skin felt, but she was using it to help her through her pregnancy with twins and hadn't really noticed any difference after using it for 1 month. But she plans to continue using it throughout the rest of her pregnancy and post pregnancy as long as her sample doesn't run out. Renee says that most skin care products if made correctly and well and especially all natural will take 1 or more years to repair damage that has been done. Skin can heal but it does take time.
Scour Off: Gentle on hand and on the Earth. Shaklee products help reduce waste harmful to the environment, and they are against pollution. This product cleans: glass, chrome, ceramic tiles, stainless steel, porcelain, and baked enamel, and most hard metal surfaces. It is not to be used on: gold, silver, brass, copper, corian and surrel. This product is not hazardous in anyway. 3 step directions for usage. Scour off can be used in the Kitchen, bathroom, out doors, vehicles, with 3 different methods of how to steps and directions of usage. Plus a formula to turn this into a spray instead of a cream butter type material.
To check out Shaklee, and their products I highly suggestion you contact Renee Sullivan, she's amazing!
My over all Rating: some of our reviewers loved the products (window cleaner, hand and body lotion, and fruit and vegetable spray), others did not like the products (degreaser, oven cleaner). But we were pleased with most of the products, its all a matter of how long you want to scrub something, and how much you want to spend on new, clean, green, safe products for the environment.
We received all products complimentary of the company Shaklee.

Piercing Pros
Details: Piercing Pros: is a website found that sells all kinds of jewelry type items. Bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, piercing bling etc. They focus on everything piercing and tattoo. With a website where products are sold, they also sell items on Amazon.com.
My Review: I bought 2 leather bracelets from them through Amazon.com. They were very nice looking, Distressed Vintage Italian leather. One was black and one was brown. Each has leather cording woven in the bracelet. One had a snap, the other prongs to hold the bracelets together. They were unisex bracelets, but when they came and I opened my package, they were way too big for myself and my husband. My invoice said my order was priority and was shipped very quickly. I got the package in 2 days. I was totally bummed the bracelets were so big. Piercing Pros allowed me to return the items and get a full refund, but didn't offer to resize the bracelets which is what I wanted. I wouldn't have complained but they didn't even offer sizing on their website.

Pros: thick leather that will never crack or tear, awesome designs, loved the quick and FREE shipping.
Cons: no sizing on website so it was a guess to see if they would even fit anyone I bought them for.
My Rating I loved the bracelets and quality, but I wanted them re-sized so I could wear them.
