Triple Chocolate Stirring Spoons

As a kid, I loved getting hot chocolate from vendors just to get the miniature stirring spoons or straws.  Of course, having the chocolate topped with whipped cream was an added treat too.

I decided to try something new and make my own hot chocolate stirring spoons.  I thought it would be fun to have not just 1 but 3 chocolates on these spoons.  I first dipped the spoon into melted white chocolate.  After that set up, I re-dipped into milk chocolate, and topped it off with another re-dip of semi-sweet chocolate and sprinkles.  It was a big hit in my family.  Hope your family enjoys them too.

Triple Chocolate Stirring Spoons

Ingredients

1 package white chocolate chips
1 package milk chocolate chips
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  • Place 1 cup of white chocolate chips in microwavable bowl.  Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave for an additional 30 seconds and stir again.

  • Dip your spoon of choice (I chose plastic) into the white chocolate mixture until thoroughly coated.
  • Place on wax paper to set up.  About 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Place 1 cup of milk chocolate chips in microwavable bowl.  Microwave for 30 seconds.  Stir.
  • Microwave for an additional 30 seconds and stir again.

  • Take your white chocolate covered spoon and dip into the milk chocolate, thoroughly coating the white chocolate.  Place on wax paper to set up.  About 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Place 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in microwavable bowl.  Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave for an additional 30 seconds and stir again.

  • Take your milk chocolate covered spoon and dip into the semi-sweet chocolate, thoroughly coating the milk chocolate.  Place on wax paper and sprinkle with your favorite topping like sprinkles, crushed candy canes, mini chocolate chips, crushed cookies etc.  Place on wax paper to set up.  About 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Wrap in Christmas cellophane or plastic wrap.

Added Bonuses:  For additional flavor, you may want to blend 1/2 cup peanut butter with the milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate.  May want to add 1 or 2 drops of your favorite flavoring, such as peppermint oil to any of the chocolate right after microwaving.  Stir well.  May want to add any of the above toppings right into any of the various chocolate mixes when dipping.  Have fun creating your own Triple Chocolate Stirring Spoons.

Pumpkin Spiced Hot Chocolate

I really really love hot chocolate.  But trying to keep my weight down, I don't drink near what I would love too.

I also really like flavored hot chocolate.  My first experience I remember about a flavored hot chocolate other than mint, was Cinnamon Hot Chocolate.  That recipe will be coming soon.

With Thanksgiving just next week, I thought I would share my recipe for Pumpkin Spiced Hot Chocolate.

Pumpkin Spiced Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

For each cup of hot chocolate made from this basic Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe, add the following in a mug.

1/4 cup canned pumpkin (I prefer Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin)
1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 to 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Mix completely. Heat and Serve with a dollop of  Whipped Topping sprinkled with Pumpkin Pie Spice.

Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe

Fall is in the air.  Temperatures are dropping, leaves are changing, and it's perfect timing for Hot Chocolate.

Here's a great basic recipe for Hot Chocolate Mix.

Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe

4 lb. box of instant powdered milk
1 lb. powdered sugar (confectioner’s sugar)
2 lbs. Nestle Quick chocolate
2 lbs. Non-dairy creamer (can get flavored ones, however, will limit the flavors you can add to your hot chocolate later.)
Mix together and store in airtight container. Place 3 to 4 tablespoons of mix into hot water. This makes a great gift.
