Hunger Games

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Details: The world (or at least North America) has been destroyed and what is left of society have been broken into the Rulers called Capital, and 12 poor Districts. Every year the government requires 2 kids join the Hunger Games from each District. The Hunger Games helps remind the poor people how blessed they are to have survived the war that devastated the land. In District 12, a female volunteers to be the tribute in place of her 12 year old sister. Her sweet as honey, tender as a baby bird younger sister. Now she has to fight 23 other victims of the Hunger Games so she can take care of her sister.

My Review: I didn't like the violence, the gore, the crudeness and ignorance of the government to the poor people in the 12 Districts. I didn't like how children are the victims of their fore father's mistakes. I didn't like the forced romance. What I did like were the characters, each person named and described was brilliant! All the detailed landscapes, all the detailed hunting strategies, and all the human reactions are also amazing. I was sucked into the story line, though the plot was unsettling.

Pros: well written, great prose, amazing details

Cons: violence, gore, murderous teenagers

My Rating: Thumbs down I will not read the rest of the trio.
