Proform 490 LE Elliptical

Proform 490 LE Elliptical

Details: normal price $1000 brand new, $600 for the floor model, $300 bump and scratch floor model.  On craigslist and KSL.com or other type of places to sell stuff this goes very quickly for $800-$700.  1-10 manual resistant options, Ipod dock available, IFit capatable with IFit.com information in booklet, 150-500 calorie auto setting workouts, 20 minute and 30 minute auto setting workout options too.  This model is a space saver where everything slides up.  Its not super heavy, and has 3 wheels to help transport and move.  This measures for heart, how many calories and carbs you burn, how far you go, how long you are working out for, what your speed is.

Information: we bought this during the Black Friday sale in 2011.  We paid $300 for the bump and scratch floor model.  We got 2 warrenties: a 30 day warranty for the structure, and a life time warranty on the motor, and everything else.  We did have to buy the adapter separate for $20.  I have 2 cons to this elliptical: the adapter cord is very short, so no matter where you plug it in, you need some type of extension cord, we have a power saver extension cord that is nailed to the wall to also protect the adapter from power surges.  My other con is that every time you get on and off, and pause while using the machine it makes a loud beeping noise, so far we haven't figured out how to turn it off.  My biggest pro to this machine is that I have a permanent issue with one of my ankles, I have to wear a brace on a daily basis (its a sports injury that was never looked at or treated, now I have to deal with the pain), this type of elliptical is great for helping heal and strengthen injuries to your lower body.  Its helping strengthen my lower back from a bad car accident back in 2003, and I have noticed a great improvement on my ankle since getting this just a few weeks ago.  I use this once a day for 30 minutes max, with stretching before and after, and wearing my ankle brace.  I can walk around more often without my brace on now, and can even run without my brace a little bit now too.  I highly recommend this!

  1. We got introduced to something I call Speed Exercising back in February. My husband and I do this 3 times a week without fail. The website we got the info from uses an elliptical machine. We use a mini tramp and something similar to a ski exercise machine. I often wondered how the elliptical machine would be to work out with. Based on your review, I think it would be great. Wish I had one, but will make do with what we have.

Basically you warm up for 3 minutes, exercise as hard and fast as you can possibly go for 30 seconds. (Yes you read that right.) Then you slowdown your exercising for the next 90 seconds. Repeat this 7 more times, Cool down for the next 3 minutes, and you are through.

After wards, it is important to eat 20 - 30 grams of protein. That's the hardest part for us. We usually exercise right before going to bed, eat the 20-30 grams of protein, and so we aren't losing the weight like we want. However, it is getting us in the habit of exercising, and someday, the plan will be to exercise right before dinner, and let that cover our protein requirements. The protein is needed to help rebuild your body after such a workout.

By following this exercise routine, it will help your body produce the Human Growth Hormone, the anti-aging Hormone. But there are so many other benefits it is worth doing.

The biggest result I have personally noticed, is that I sleep better at night. I have the restless leg syndrome and I'm not nearly as bothered by that at night any more, especially the 3 nights a week we exercise.

We do strength exercises the other 2 nights, but we haven't been as consistent with that as we are the other.

Keep up the good work on your exercise routine. Please share with us what your exercise routine includes and the results you gain from that. Let's all stay fit and healthy.
